These films won awards

Afgelopen week vonden de BAFTA Awards plaats in de Royal Festival Hall in Londen. Onder andere prins William en zijn vrouw Kate gaven acte de presence. De film All Quiet on the Western Front ging ervandoor met in totaal zeven gouden beeldjes. Zin om een van de prijswinnende films te bekijken? MASTERS zet er een aantal op een rij.

All Quiet on the Western Front

Paul Baumer, with his friends Albert and Muller, voluntarily enlists in the German army. However, their patriotic fervor melts like snow when they are confronted with the brutal reality at the front. The war film became the big winner of the BAFTAs in London. The film cashed in seven of 14 nominations and was named Best Film, among other awards.

The film can be viewed on Netflix.

The Banshees of Inisherin

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, this film follows friends Pádraic and Colm, who reach an impasse when Colm unexpectedly ends their friendship. With the help of his sister, Pádraic tries to repair the damaged relationship by any means necessary. Among other awards, the film previously won several Golden Globes and was also nominated for an Oscar. At the BAFTAs, the film received the title of Best British Film.

The Banshees of Inisherin is currently not available to stream (yet), but can be viewed in theaters.

Elvis

For twenty years, the film shows the life of rock and roll icon Elvis Presley: from his childhood to his status as a rock and movie star in the 1950s. It also reveals the complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Austin Butler was crowned Best Actor for his role in the film.
