5 tips for a blissful Pentecost

Pentecost falls this year on Sunday, June 5 and Monday, June 6. From a wine festival to an exhibition; MASTERS lists five activities for a blissful Pentecost. Text: Fleur de Jong
Image: Eric SpillerAferringfrom the Greek word pentekostè, meaning fifty, Pentecost falls on the fiftieth day after Easter Sunday. On Sunday, June 5 and Monday, June 6, there are plenty of activities you can do. With these five tips, you can make your plans in advance to get out the door.

1. Wine Festival 

On June 3, 4 and 5 during Bacchus an ode to wine in the Amsterdam Forest. Amsterdam wine stores and winemakers will collectively present over 300 different wines, from classic European to new world wines. Combined with delicious food and music, this festival is the guarantee of a tasty weekend.

2. Visit an exhibition

On April 22, 2022, a new digital art center, Fabrique des Lumières, opened in Zuiveringshal West on Amsterdam's Westergasterrein. Fabrique des Lumières features immersive exhibitions by classical, modern and contemporary artists. Using advanced technology, the artworks are brought to life through light projections and accompanying music. The first exhibition consists of works by the artist Gustav Klimt and his contemporaries and offers visitors a new perspective on Viennese painting of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. 3. Jazz Festival 

From June 3 through June 6, 2022, the 48th edition of Jazz in Duketown will take place on various stages in downtown 's-Hertogenbosch; the largest free (outdoor) jazz festival in the Netherlands where nationally and internationally renowned musicians perform. The festival will be held on 10 different stages throughout the city. With the main stage on the most beautiful square of the city; De Parade.

4. Shopping

Many stores are closed on Whit Sunday, but open on June 4 or Whit Monday. Go to Maastricht, for example, and before you go these 5 hotspots that MASTERS previously selected to make the most of your day (or night) of shopping. 5. Food festival 

During Pentecost, Amersfoort epicureans can't believe their luck. From Friday, June 3 through Monday, June 6, the Burgemeester Brouwerplantsoen will fill with culinary delicacies and a wide range of atmosphere-enhancing elements that still manage to surprise even the famously bubbly. Live music and electronic records set the right tone and the little ones are entertained to their hearts' content. The market completes the story, offering special items and curiosities.
