This Yacht Designer takes a different tack

With his innovative and somewhat futuristic Yacht Designs, Aras Kazar manages to amaze time and again. His latest brainchild: the Wakíŋyaŋ. MASTERS takes a closer look at the concept of this 130-meter yacht.

The design honors its name Wakíŋyaŋ, which translates as ''thunderclap'' or ''Thunder Birds'' in the language of the Lakota. The yacht is characterized by futuristic and minimalist lines that form a bird-like silhouette from above. Full-height glass and the deck provide plenty of natural light as well as 360-degree views.

One of the most striking features of the design is that the yacht has three hulls with hydrofoils. This provides more stability, as well as less drag, allowing for speeds of 32 knots - or nearly 60 kilometers per hour.

Relaxation highly valued

The interior design of the Wakíŋyaŋ concept, shows similarities to the exterior. Soft colors and spacious rooms allow guests to feel relaxed and calm on board. According to Aras Kazar this is exactly the intention: ''Wakíŋyaŋ is designed to make you feel calm and relaxed, whether you are enjoying it on board or looking at it from the outside''.

In addition to comfortable cabins for the crew and captain, the concept features five guest cabins, a master suite and spa. And of course, to create the ultimate piece of relaxation, no pool should be missing on board. This is located on the aft deck.
