Creating atmosphere with light

Maretti Lighting knows better than anyone that light and lighting contribute greatly to the experience of a space. Thus, at MASTERS EXPO the company will transform The Captains Club into an atmospheric place that lends itself perfectly to receiving your best relations or doing business, among other things. But how do you actually create atmosphere with light and what is the importance of a lighting plan? Maretti explains.

Through the right lighting, you can complement and enhance an interior. You can use light to draw attention to elements that are important to the interior. A good example is the theater: with a follow spotlight, they can make sure you know what to look at. Your eyes are directed through light. You can do this in the interior as well. For example, if you have beautiful or special art objects, you can make sure they get your full attention by focusing a spotlight on them and keeping the rest around them darker. By applying not only basic lighting such as spotlights, but also thinking about floor lamps, pendant lamps or wall lamps, you can distribute the light over the different "layers" of the home.

Importance of classification

To really make a good lighting plan, it is important to know where the kitchen will be and what the interior will look like. In particular, the layout is important in order to really apply the right lighting in the right places. The colors and materials are also important to predict the reflection and effect of the lighting.

Dark colors absorb light and so more light is needed than, say, in a very bright room. Maretti explains that when you start thinking about light afterwards, you're too late for some installations. For example, with recessed lighting, you have to consider recesses in the ceilings. Sometimes this even has to be factored into the construction of the home because the holes have to be poured into the concrete.

Atmospheric

In the living room, atmospheric lighting is especially needed. You can achieve this through floor lamps and table lamps, but you can also combine this with spotlights in or on the ceiling or wall lamps. Think here for example of good lighting for reading a book on the couch, but also lighting to highlight the coffee table.
