Inside The Valley: The Pizza Bakers

In 2009, De Pizzabakkers opened its first branch,on Haarlemmerdijk in Amsterdam. Due to the enormous success of this artisanal pizza bakery - pizzas from an authentic Italian wood oven, with a thin, crispy base and topped with fresh, high-quality ingredients imported from Italy - more branches soon followed. The most recent, twenty-fifth, addition is located on the first floor of The Valley on the Zuidas. Office workers and residents of this high-end residential and office tower can therefore now eat out without leaving the building. Co-owner Arnaud Scholten, who once started in the business on Haarlemmerdijk and calls himself "a child of the company," thinks it is the nicest Pizza Bakers around. The industrial-looking restaurant is seven meters high, the walls are covered in terracotta-colored paint and a six-meter-wide bookcase hangs full of pizza boxes. Because there are many offices on the Zuidas, Arnaud and his associates chef Jeroen de Bussy and JĂ©ron van der Pool focus more than other Pizzabakkers on lunch. So there are also freshly baked ciabattas from the electric stone oven on the menu and, in connection with the local free-mibo culture, you can also have drinks at these Pizzabakkers.

Designer Nienke Hoogvliet, who has introduced natural seaweed paint as an alternative to harmful textile dyes. And Anna Nooshin, who denounces the current social media culture of pretty pictures. In her documentary, she also shares the less beautiful aspects of her life. All of them people who ask questions, present mirrors, make steps. Steps toward a healthier world and more understanding society.
