These are the most expensive festivals

Inflation has also hit the festival industry. Whereas just a few years ago you would have paid a few tens of dollars for a festival, nowadays you're not surprised when a ticket costs almost €100. On the high side? For these festivals, it's a joke....

The festival season has been going on for a while now and there will be quite a bit of dancing in the near future. Not only in the Netherlands, but all over the world the beats are pumping out of the speakers and people are enjoying a good party, some spread over several days. In the Netherlands you pay between €60 and €100 for a festival, but these festivals go a step further. Here you will have to dig a little deeper into the festive purse. These are the five festivals with the highest entrance fees.

5. Lollapalooza (€355)

This festival in Chicago's Grant Park provides the stage for many heavy metal, alternative rock, punk and hip-hop bands as well as dance and comedy performances. For $355, you have access to all four days, and single-day ticket prices start at $121.

4. Glastonbury Festival (€389)

For 389 Euros, you have the chance to admire superstars like Elton John, Guns N' Roses, Lil Nas X and Kelis in real life. In addition to rock and pop concerts, which the festival is known for, you can also attend dance, cabaret, circus and other performances. The festival takes place from June 21 to 25 at Worthy Farm, under the smoke of Gastonbury.

3. Outside Lands (€420)

With headliners like Kendrick Lamar, Lana del Rey, Odezda and the Foofighters, there's no way that the per-ticket prices can't be wrong. Want to see all the top artists? Admission to the three-day festival - which takes place from Aug. 11 to 13 - at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco costs about $420. If you want to take it a little easier and visit for one day, you'll pay €186.

2. Coachella (€515)

Surely the most famous festival of this list is Coachella. Every visitor here walks around the glass field with an extremely well thought-out outfit, and chances are you will bump into a famous (Hollywood) star. The musical performances are no slouch either. Many an artist like Beyoncé, Kanye West and Justin Bieber have already appeared on stage here. To walk around the grounds for three days last year, you paid about €515 in conversion. In addition, you also have to take into account buying refreshments, which are not bad either. A vodka cola costs around €26 and two breakfast burritos cost €60. Single-day admission is not possible for this festival.

1. Burning Man (€575)

At No. 1 flaunts Burning Man, which takes place from Aug. 27 through Sept. 4. The seven-day festival in Nevada symbolizes a surreal city, with all its principles. The festival attracts 50,000 visitors from around the world, all of whom have managed to secure scarce tickets. The pre-sale offers 4,000 tickets: 1,000 tickets for €2,750 each and 3,000 for €1,500. During the regular sale, you pay about €575 for a ticket, but then you have seven days of access to the event.
