ON TOP OF THE HILL

Is it a hill, or is it a villa? This luxurious dream home of 4473 square meters is located in the middle of the hilly landscape of Canada. Thanks to 3D scanning technology, the design fits perfectly into the surrounding nature. Text: Larissa Schaule Jullens
Image: Partisans When a fire broke out in the home of entrepreneur Scott Friedman in 2017, he and his family were forced to leave. Friedman decided to experiment with their new house, which was built on the same estate. He enlisted the help of the established company Partisans and commissioned them to build an extravagant house on his more than 4473 square meter estate. He gave the company complete freedom for the experiment, but he did have one important requirement: the house had to become one with nature. Thanks to the use of 3D scanning technology, the house designed by Partisans fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape. The end result is mind blowing. The entire house consists of glass doors, the ceilings are made of white-oak material and the roof is intended to further blur the boundary between architecture and landscape. A special technique has been used to shape the roof in this way. The large bend of the house leads – via the outdoor pavilion – to the main residence. Furthermore, this villa has a swimming pool, 4 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a cinema and a gigantic garden.
