Eiffel Tower in Paris grows by six meters

The Eiffel Tower in the French capital of Paris has added six meters. A new antenna was installed on top of Paris' most visited landmark, bringing the tower to a length of 330 meters . The new antenna was installed to provide the area with DAB+, or digital radio broadcasts. Check out the images.Text: Patrick StofferThe Eiffel Tower was built between 1887 and 1889 on the occasion of the 1889 World's Fair, exactly 100 years after the French Revolution. The tower, which was originally 312 meters long, was designed by architect Gustave Eiffel. For a long time the structure was the tallest building in the world, but in 1929 it had to cede the title to the Chrysler Building in New York.

For more than 100 years there have been antennas on top of the Eiffel Tower and was even the reason for not demolishing the tower in 1910. Over the years, the height of the Eiffel Tower has varied, due to the replacement of various antennas. So now the tower has been raised again by six meters due to the installation of a new radio antenna. This has the function of providing the ĂŽle-de-France region with DAB+, a digital alternative to FM radio signals. Check out the unique images of this placement below.
