Back in the days
Since 1983, Culimaat has stood for kitchens that combine design, functionality and quality in good harmony. They realize designs that blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings. The specialist creates kitchen concepts in which every element - large and small - is at the service of enjoying the beauty of life to the full. They create kitchens that go beyond dreams and imagination.
When founder Jan Swanenberg started his own furniture workshop in '83 on an industrial estate in Berlicum, Brabant, perfection, top quality and innovation were born. Although the company initially focused on manufacturing high-quality custom furniture, over the years the focus increasingly shifted to designing and realizing luxury kitchen concepts. Meanwhile, the company is also working hard on its own brand Culimaat, which is becoming increasingly well-known in the world of exclusive interiors and lifestyle.
Co-owners and designers Twan and Davy Swanenberg literally grew up in their father's furniture workshop. The love for the trade was instilled in them at an early age. At an early age they learned the intricacies of design. In 2007, Twan and Davy decided to continue their father's work and ideas together. Under their inspired leadership - and in 2017 with the arrival of managing director Herman Ossenblok - Culimaat grew into the established name that the company is today. Today, Culimaat symbolizes the design and manufacture of the most exclusive custom-made kitchen concepts, giving the term "kitchen" a whole new meaning.
Customization meets optimal living enjoyment
"We are driven by making exceptional kitchen elements," Twan explains enthusiastically. "In doing so, we go beyond anything standard. Design, functionality and quality always have a shared first place in our work. We translate these principles into a harmonious and high-quality whole. The concept is always completely tailored to the life of the users, aesthetically enriches the total living experience and forms a perfect whole, in which each element fits together seamlessly. For us, only the best is good enough. This is why we think far beyond the kitchen an sich. We approach every challenge as a complete project. In this way, a fully customized concept is created, which makes a significant contribution to the entire living experience."
Groundbreaking and unique
Each high-end kitchen concept is a unique combination of design, color, material and finish and tells a customer's individual story. They are, in effect, works of art designed to fit the user in the best possible way. Davy: "The shape and dimensions are created based on the space and the concept. Nothing is standard. We regularly develop our own unique applications that we have made in Italy. For example, we source natural stone, metal and special finishes directly from Italy." Twan: "One of the ways we gain inspiration is by visiting well-known trade fairs, such as the Italian Salone del Mobile. In this way, we always try to learn, think outside the box and stimulate our creativity. We always think beyond trends. What we create must still be beautiful twenty years from now. And unique. No two kitchens are the same, just like no two customers are the same. The common thread is the top quality that we deliver everywhere. That drive for perfection is truly characteristic of Culimaat."
The ultimate Culimaat experience
That Culimaat experience is characterized by a perfectly run process in which customers are relieved of all their worries from A to Z. Twan: "Everything is manufactured in-house. This allows us to deliver consistent top quality." This starts as early as the introduction. "In this phase, we want to discover who our clients are," Twan explains. "What do they like, how do they live, what do they get pleasure from? We then translate this into a detailed design. Incidentally, we also find it important that people know who Culimaat is. That they understand why we do what we do. We go very far in our designs and details, but certainly also in the realization process. Often our clients are people who also have an affection for design, who love top quality and exclusivity. Then you are immediately on the same level. In addition, we attach great value to good communication. every client is assigned a project manager who supervises the entire process and is available to the ldant with every question."
"Technical elaboration and work preparation are also important links in the process," says Davy. "I myself worked in work preparation for two years to experience everything up close, to discover and what goes well and what we can optimize. For example, we have developed software that makes it possible to automate part of the work process to work even more efficiently and precisely. Based on the idea 'machines can do things that human can't', we want to bypass human effort so that we are in no way limited in our designs and realizations. The software allows us to remove technical flaws or imperfections from the design early on, thus avoiding detail deviations. This allows us to uncompromisingly translate the conceived design into a high-quality realization with a top quality finish and ditto level of detail. We combine automation with pure craftsmanship. This is a golden combination. As craftsmen, we make the quality, for example by carrying out checks and sanding and brushing the wood. In addition, on-site assembly is also handled by our own team of skilled craftsmen. So that the kitchens match the conceived and created concept down to the last detail." Twan: "We also always ask afterwards how a client experienced the process. Because, by definition, the client is always right. The feedback helps us to continuously improve our operations and thus to be able to do it even better every time."
The Equinox One
The one million kitchen concept. As a result, Culimaat's name recognition has further increased with the development of this prestigious one million project. Davy, the creative brain behind the kitchen concept: "I was able to go completely wild with the design in terms of shapes, materials and details. Think: side walls of gold leaf, a rear wall of semi-precious stones, parts of matted and high-gloss polished stainless steel, quartzite kitchen worktops and LED lighting that can be set to your own taste. The result: An ultra luxurious kitchen concept, in which the most beautiful, unusual and innovative materials and forms come together in a creation that symbolizes ultimate luxury and unprecedented living pleasure. The national and international attention they received because of the Equinox was overwhelming. Culimaat received so much attention that they postponed the international launch for a while. After all, Culimaat expects only the very best from themselves. That is why they are now working on perfect further development of this luxury kitchen concept so that the Equinox can be well realized anywhere in the world.
In addition, Culimaat has experienced considerable growth both nationally and internationally thanks to continuous innovation. Several designs have even won awards and the company has won several major awards, including the Kitchen Design Award Western Europe and the World Kitchen Design Award USA in 2013.
