These are the orange hotspots of our capital

Next Saturday it's that time again: the Netherlands turns orange for King's Day. This year the royal family will settle in Emmen. This year's theme is Pride, Space and Energy. It promises to be a day full of music, dance and culture. Not into cookie eating or other idyllic old Dutch entertainment? As always, there is plenty to do in our capital. MASTERS selects a number of orange hotspots.

Prince & Monkey

At Prins & Aap the festival starts at 11:00. Expect an extensive menu choice, cocktails and live music here. Did you look too deeply into the glass? This has been taken into account The Day after... A real hangover brunch will be organized on the 28th. Enjoy the famous XXL Smashburger or the Mexican chicken waffle. And in the context of fighting fire with fire, all while enjoying the beats of DJ Raphaella Brown. 'Would you like a cocktail?'

NDSM Freeport

Outside of Amsterdam's largest children's free market, you will find a range of live music options to make your King's Day unforgettable. Stages will be set up across various locations on the NDSM wharf with various live acts. For example, visit IJver for a musical intermezzo (and choose a nice beer) or dare to dance on the beach at Pllek with a view over the IJ. But this year the necessary tunes will also be played at Café Noorderlicht and the ADM stage.

The Duchess

Want to escape the busy streets of Amsterdam? At the Duchess you can celebrate King's Day in royal style. A number of specialties have been added to the menu especially for this day. Think of the Duncan Oysters with Clementine Snow & pickled Kumquat, but also the signature 'Marquis' cocktail, made from strawberry, lemongrass, gin peach, lime and yuzu foam, should not be missed.

Amstelveld

Would you rather stroll at a festival, but can't see the forest for the orange trees? Good news, because you can visit Leidseplein, Nieuwmarkt and Rembrandtplein, Het Spuit, Reguliersdwarsstraat and Marie Heinekenplein for free as usual. In addition, Brasserie NeL celebrates both King's Night and King's Day on the Amstelveld, with a line-up of various artists on both holidays. And without having to cut corners… except for an orange bitter.

Sunset Sessions at LuminAir

While the city is covered in orange, LuminAir offers an oasis of peace. Enjoy cocktails here with a view over the historic heart of the city and the IJ. Live DJs will play on the terrace and you can enjoy a snack and a drink with the icing on the cake - hopefully - a setting sun.

King's eclair

When King Willem-Alexander was born, in addition to rusk with blue mice, the family also ate an orange tompouce. Since then, the delicacy has been inextricably linked to King's Day. Have you already thought about where you will score an orange copy this year? Tout Patisserie is the place to be for orange tompouces, macarons and eclairs in the colors of our little country. Be there on time, because the pastry shop is open until 12.00 noon. Team 'happer' or 'skylighter'?
