How are you enjoying the fair so far?
'Very good! Friday was a really great day anyway and today is also going great. Especially with this location, you can see the boat from the entire hall.'
You are a true family business and have been around for 85 years, what is your magical entrepreneurial tip?
'I actually think that if you do what you like and you are passionate about it, it is not that difficult to be successful, especially in our industry. We do yacht building, everything is made by hand and we only build four or five boats a year, so every boat is really our baby. When we deliver such a boat, it is really a moment for us when you have to let go of the boat.'
Is the next generation already being prepared to take over?
'Mine is now 2,5 and almost 1, so that will take a while. But we live on the water and when my son sees a Mulder he shouts: "Look at a Nick Mulder boat!" His name is also Nick, so he already finds boats very interesting!'
What's so special about this Anniversary Edition?
'This is the tenth Favorite 1700 and since we have now existed for 85 years, it was really important to me to build a special project. We also really wanted to show what is possible in this segment of 17-18 meters. I wanted to build the most high-end boat in the Netherlands, perhaps even in the world. I think we have certainly succeeded in this with interior design by Roelfien Vos, among other things, but the detailed layering of the boat is also top craftsmanship.'
