Doing business in higher spheres

Earlier, Jeff Bezos' space company, Blue Origin, launched the Orbital Reef project together with the startup Sierra Space. A commercial space station that will serve the business needs of entrepreneurs beyond Earth. So if the sky is not the limit for you…

When the International Space Station will no longer be operational within a few years, space agencies such as NASA and ESA will not immediately have an alternative to allow people to live and work in orbit around the Earth for a long time. Orbital Reef will therefore become one of the private successors. Blue Origin itself calls it one mixed-use business park. It will have everything you expect from a business park on earth; office spaces for employees, rooms where you can sleep after a day of work, a lunch spot and even a piece of greenery so you can enjoy nature.

Address in orbit

While the space station is located approximately 500 kilometers above our planet, a major advantage for entrepreneurs is the possibility of simply registering a business address on the space station. Very useful for drawing up invoices and contracts…

In addition to opening its doors to entrepreneurs, researchers are also welcome on board. For example, Orbital Reef will contain research facilities that support researchers and developers in their space excursions.

But how do you get to the office without a car, bus or bicycle? Sierra Space and Blue Origin pondered this question and decided to develop the Dream Chaser. The reusable spaceplane can perform up to 15 round trips and fly approximately 12 passengers to Orbital Reef. In addition, it can carry food, water and other supplies.

The plans sound very futuristic, but they do Blue Origin and Sierra Space will launch the first modules into space within a few years, so that the space station will be operational by the end of this decade...
