The Battle of the Scheldt (2020)

In the autumn of 1944, the Battle of the Scheldt took place: a major naval battle in Zeeland and West Brabant. The battle is decisive for the course of the Second World War. In the bloody battle, the paths of different people cross and, among other things, the path of Marinus, a young Dutch man who fights on the side of the Germans, is followed. Also that of William, a lost British glider pilot, and Teuntje, who is part of a resistance movement.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (2008)

8-year-old Bruno moves with his family to a place far away, where there is nothing to do and no one to play with. Their new house is next to a fence that stretches as far as the eye can see, a fence that shields Bruno from the strange people he sees moving behind it. Bruno wants to become an explorer and decides to investigate. On one of his trips he meets a boy whose life and circumstances are very different from his own. Nevertheless, the boys become friends, but it is a friendship that is not without consequences...

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

A critically acclaimed war film that won no fewer than five Oscars. Two brothers die during the Allied invasion of Normandy. A third brother dies simultaneously in New Guinea, fighting the Japanese. When it becomes known that a fourth brother has gone missing in the French countryside, a mission is launched to get him home safely. A film that won't let you go from the start.

Riphagen (2016)

In addition to 'good Dutch people', there were also 'wrong Dutch people' during the war. This film tells the story of the infamous Amsterdam criminal Dries Riphagen, played by Jeroen van Koningsbrugge. Riphagen worked fanatically with the Nazis during the Second World War. When he betrays an important resistance group, the young police officer and resistance fighter Jan van Liempd opens a manhunt.
