Hangover table

"The Hangover table is an epoxy cast table. A still life with scenes that happen behind closed doors and that are almost always secretive or secretive. The idea arose at an afterparty where there was a table with the elements you see on this table. Then I thought: I have to pour this! Through these tables I discuss taboos and try to break them. The reactions to this work of art are very diverse and from these reactions I can gauge what people think about the topics in question. During corona the Hangover table gone viral on social media and has been viewed millions of times around the world, among other things quarantine mode was a favorite text when sharing the content. Very nice (despite corona) to see how something like this can spread like wildfire. The Hangover table is now starting to become a household name, because so many people already know him or someone has heard about him. It is of course also something very special and very different from what most people associate with 'art'. With this table I mainly address a young target group, who dare to break taboos and are not afraid of what others think about it.”

The Case

"The case is a tour de force in working with epoxy and also combining aluminum and bronze. The actions involved in creating this work of art have been a very long and complicated process. Without the full dedication of various parties we would never have achieved this result, it was so complicated to create. In the CASE contains various objects that are normally in closed cases, and just like with the tables, show a secret or hidden part of our lives and society. With this work I also want to make certain topics open for discussion. In addition, the tension of the 'open' suitcase because of the epoxy appeals to people, because: who wouldn't want a suitcase full of money, gold or other things of high value? The getaway suitcase (The Getaway) is very reminiscent of films such as James Bond, Mission Impossible, Jason Bourne, etc. A lot of my inspiration comes from films, series, documentaries and the media. All in all, a technical tour de force and also a really cool object to have. The tension radiates from it.”

The Globe Award

"The Globe Award is a very heavy object made of bronze with an element at the top, the globe, that can rotate. It is a combination between a Golden Globe, the statue from the epic movie Scarface with the world is yours and the World Cup awarded in football. The work represents the search for an ultimate goal or to reach the top in careers, whatever that may be. Rewards are the crowning glory of hard work in life, I wonder: if this is achieved, will it also give us the satisfaction we hope for or is this all there to be pushed to the limit in our reward system? ? I find it interesting how this affects our feelings and thoughts. How an object brings such status and happiness. A beautiful quote from one of my favorite films, The Devil's Advocate with Al Pacino: Vanity is my favorite sin. "

Wanrooy Gallery

Tim de Vries has a special bond with Martijn Wanrooij van Wanrooy Gallery. “I once walked into Martijn Wanrooij's gallery to see if we could do something together. Usually Martijn doesn't do anything with walk-ins, but with me he thought there was 'something' that was interesting and innovative. We decided to work together and from there a friendship and good working relationship developed.”
