But how do you actually create atmosphere with light and what is the importance of a lighting plan? Maretti explains.
With the right lighting you can complement and enhance an interior. You can use light to draw attention to elements that are important for the interior. A good example of this is the theater: with a followspot they can ensure that you know what to look at. Your eyes are controlled by light. You can also do this in the interior.
For example, if you have beautiful or special art objects, you can ensure that they receive full attention by focusing a spotlight on them and keeping the rest around them darker. By using not only basic lighting such as spotlights, but also floor lamps, hanging lamps or wall lamps, you can distribute the light over the different 'layers' of the home.
Importance of classification
In order to really create a good lighting plan, it is important to know where the kitchen will be located and what the interior will look like. The layout is particularly important in order to be able to apply the right lighting in the right places. The colors and materials are also important to predict the reflection and effect of the lighting.
Dark colors absorb light and therefore more light is needed than, for example, in a very bright room. Maretti explains that if you start thinking about the light afterwards, you are too late for some installations. For example, with recessed lighting you must take recesses in the ceilings into account. Sometimes this even has to be taken into account during the construction of the house because the holes have to be poured in the concrete.
Atmospheric
In the living room, atmospheric lighting is especially needed. You can achieve this using floor lamps and table lamps, but you can also combine this with spotlights in or on the ceiling or wall lamps. Consider, for example, good lighting to read a book on the couch, but also lighting to highlight the coffee table.
