Research was recently conducted into the most popular fashion brands of the fourth quarter of 2022. And guess what? Gucci is no longer king in the fashion world, at least if we are to believe platform Lyst. MASTERS takes a closer look at the fashionable list.
5. Valentino
Valentino Garavani settled in Rome in the late 50s, where he founded his own fashion house. His designs are mainly characterized by a classic, elegant line, often in bright colors. There was one trend that could not be missed in 2022 and that was barbiecore. The color pink made a major comeback in fashion, with Valentino dedicating an entire catwalk show to the color. But the brand mainly gained popularity last year due to Adele's striking video clip. In And Drink Wine the singer was seen floating in a river, wearing a gold Valentino dress.
4. Miu Miu
Miu Miu was founded in 1993 as part of Prada, led by Miuccia Prada. It quickly became one of the fastest growing global brands in the fashion industry. Miu Miu's extreme miniskirts went viral and the ballerinas quickly became popular items. The brand gained extra popularity last year through, among other things, the collaboration with artist Shuang Li and the SS23 show.
3. Moncler
Moncler has risen an impressive 14 positions to third place. In Q3 of 2022, this brand generated € 683 million turnover. Founded in 1952 in Monestier-de-Clermont, France, the company is currently based in Italy. In the early days, Moncler only made lined sleeping bags and tents. This product quickly became a success due to the rise of mountain vacations around this time. In honor of its 70th anniversary, Moncler launched several NFTs in October last year.
2. Gucci
Despite being dethroned, the brand takes an honorable second place on the list. In Q3 the brand generated € 2.6 billion in turnover. This brand has also undergone major changes recently, with Gucci becoming the first major brand to build its own world in the metaverse and Alessandro Michele stepping down as Creative Director in November. Italian designer Sabato De Sarno takes over.
1. Prada
With an increase of no less than 37% in the number of searches in the fourth quarter Prada is currently the most popular brand in the world. For the first time, the Italian fashion house takes number one on the list. The success is reportedly due to changes in the management, for example Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli resigned as duo CEO of Prada Group at the beginning of this year. Andrea Guerra took over as CEO. Eventually, son Lorenzo Bertelli will take over. Well-known faces such as Kendall Jenner and Charli D'Amelio also recently appeared as faces of the brand.
