Went last Monday Louis premiered in the Amsterdam Tuschinski cinema. Documentary maker Geertjan Lassche made a documentary about the characteristic Louis van Gaal. In the film, which can be seen from today, the maker delves into the life and work of the national coach. Van Gaal trains the Dutch national team and trained Ajax, AZ, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United. Text: Mical Joseph
Van Gaal made his mark as a footballer at Sparta Rotterdam. Of course, Louis is mainly known as a trainer and football player, but his striking statements during press conferences are also worth mentioning. Louis is a special portrait of Louis van Gaal: one of the best football coaches the Netherlands has ever known and the man about whom everyone actually has an opinion. In the film, Louis looks back on the highs and lows of his colorful life; not only his career, but also his family life and past.
The current national coach was followed during work and private moments for no less than three years. In the conversations he had with national and international football stars, but also with his wife and daughters, a complete picture emerges of the development of the phenomenon, his unprecedented career and the special man behind the much-discussed image. Geertjan Lassche previously made a documentary about former cyclist Thomas Dekker. He was also named Journalist of the Year 2020 for devising and directing the corona vlog program 'Front Messages' in which healthcare providers reported on the situation in hospitals and nursing homes with vlogs during the first corona wave in 2020.
