These films won prizes

Last week the BAFTA Awards took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Prince William and his wife Kate, among others, were present. The film All Quiet on the Western Front walked away with a total of seven gold statues. Fancy watching one of the award-winning films? MASTERS lists a number of them.

All Quiet on the Western Front 

Paul Baumer and his friends Albert and Muller voluntarily enlist in the German army. However, their patriotic fervor melts like snow in the sun when they are confronted with the cruel reality at the front. The war film was the big winner of the BAFTAs in London. The film received seven of the fourteen nominations and was named Best Film, among other awards.

The Banshees of Inisher  

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, this film follows friends Pádraic and Colm, who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly ends their friendship. With the help of his sister, Pádraic tries to repair the damaged relationship by any means necessary. The film has previously won several Golden Globes and has also been nominated for an Oscar. The film was awarded Best British Film at the BAFTAs. 

The Banshees of Inisherin is currently not (yet) available to stream, but it can be viewed in the cinema. 

Elvis 

The film lasts twenty years of rock 'n' roll icon Elvis Presley: from his youth to his status as a rock and movie star in the 1950s. In addition, the complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker, becomes clear. Austin Butler was crowned Best Actor for his role in the film.
