At MASTERS EXPO – The Magical Edition, Culimaat proudly presents its latest masterpiece: The Equinox. With a moving island that adapts effortlessly to any situation, this 'Million Dollar Kitchen' radiates innovation and dynamism. Something that also very strikingly symbolizes the continuous progress at Culimaat itself. MASTERS spoke with co-owner Twan Swanenberg.

When did the entrepreneurial magic start for you?

''I grew up in my parents' furniture workshop. From a young age I have known all the possibilities and characteristics of many different materials. At school I mainly focused on drawing and designing. It is precisely through the combination of designs and knowing what the technical possibilities are that the magic has begun."

What is the most magical moment of your career? 

''The most magical moment of my career is winning the World Design Awards in America with a design by my brother. With Culimaat we have shown what we are capable of. I am still very proud of this.”

What is your motto? 

“The devil is in the details.”

If you could make a magic potion, what entrepreneurial talents would it contain? 

''You have to be a visionary and know where you want to go with your company. In addition, great empathy is needed to build the best possible team around you.”

Which magical novelty will you take with you to MASTERS EXPO in December?

''At MASTERS EXPO – The Magical Edition we present a completely new kitchen concept: The Equinox. We previously presented this digitally, but the real scoop will take place during the fair. The idea of ​​The Equinox is that you can change the layout so that, for example, more sunlight enters the kitchen. The position of the sink and cooking area can also be shifted and rotated. This is a completely new concept that has never been seen before worldwide. This shows what we as Culimaat stand for. A piece of furniture that is completely balanced with unique details."

What are the trends in kitchens in the coming year?

''We are increasingly working with natural materials and colours. In addition, we generally see that in addition to dark oak, lighter wood types are gaining popularity. The kitchen is also increasingly seen as a piece of furniture in the interior. As a result, we are increasingly asked to make custom furniture for the rest of the home that matches the kitchen. At first it was often just for the Living, now it's expanding to laundry rooms, bedrooms and walk-in closets.”
