The world's highest paid footballers

For years, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were on the ball and triumphed at the top of the list of the highest-paid footballers in the world. A new record and a new number one; Forbes published the list of the highest-paid football players in the 2022-23 season. MASTERS takes a closer look at the top five.

1. Kylian Mbappe 

When Ronaldo and Messi exceeded for the first time in 2018 100 million in total annual income, they were both in their thirties. However, Mbappé already achieved this amount at the age of just 23. Forbes estimates that the French footballer in 2022-23 will earn 130 million, excluding taxes and transfer costs. This amount is a record in Forbes' annual rankings. Despite rumors of a move to Real Madrid, the footballer signed a three-year contract extension in May to continue playing at Paris-Saint Germain. Like most football contracts, the terms of the deal are not public, but according to experts, Mbappé will receive approx 112 million salary received, in addition to the income from 18 million from collaborations with Nike, Dior, Hublot, Oakley and Panini, among others.

2 Lionel Messi

4. Neymar Jr.
