5X SUMMER IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY

This summer we are limited with travel, but you don't have to look far for wonderful experiences. Five wonderful experiences in the Netherlands for you. Text: Lior Gijrath

Librije's hotel

Eating in De Librije is on many a bucket list. Just put 'sleeping' in there Librijes' Hotel', which, like the restaurant, is located in a former women's prison. What a luxury to take the stairs upstairs after a sumptuous star dinner, accompanied by the most beautiful wines - past cell doors and bars - and nestle in one of the suites furnished with, among others, Auping and Bang & Olufsen. Included are butler service, a Mercedes S-class as your own taxi at your doorstep and high-level hospitality. Tip: take your time for breakfast, because it is - as expected - also of star quality.

Parachuting on Texel

Always wanted to parachuting? Then do it right right away: on Texel. There is no more beautiful location to float above – the dunes, the beaches, the waves. And once you have both feet on the ground again, have a nice lunch or dinner in a restaurant at Jeff, which is located in a former parsonage at Herenstraat 34-36 in Den Hoorn, and discover the culinary treasures that the island has to offer. Spending the night with Jef (and Nadine) in one of the twelve design suites is also a (very good) option.

Rijksmuseum

The monumental building, the new layout, the restoration of the murals, the enormous range of special art... It Rijksmuseum you simply must have visited. If only to have seen The Night Watch. Tip: have a nice lunch or dinner afterwards RICH* (the museum's restaurant), where the line of the Rijksmuseum is continued: quality, authenticity and uniqueness translated into the kitchen of Joris Bijdendijk. The Rijksmuseum on your plate!

Bilderberg Lauswolt Estate

On this 'most beautiful estate of the Northern Netherlands' luxury and relaxation go hand in hand. Spacious suites with panoramic views; a wellness with swimming pool, sauna, solarium, massages and beauty treatments; restaurant De Heeren van Harinxma*, which offers pampering based on regional products; an 18-hole golf course that runs through the beautiful surrounding nature; and the experience of Friesland through bicycle and sloop trips, among other things. A nice place, where you can relax with friends and family.

The International

A great golf course because of its location - close to Schiphol, you can almost touch the planes passing over -, but also because of its challenging design with height differences of up to fourteen meters, water features and beautiful sight lines (a design by top golfer Ian Woosnam). It is not only the course that has international allure: the restaurant designed by Piet Boon, with high-level gastronomy and a real chef's table, radiates quality and allure. Also possible The International boast a Wine Club, consisting of forty members who have a personalized locker in The Wine Room.
