Six Senses already operates 21 hotels and resorts in 17 different countries, but this new location in Norway will stand out. It is a climate-neutral hotel.

Inspired by 'rorbu'

The name of the hotel is Black, in Old Norse this means black and blue. Inspired by the eternal blue summer days and the black winter nights illuminated by the breathtaking Northern Lights.

The design is based on the traditional fishing huts of Norway, the so-called 'rorbus', because of this zall the hotel with 94 rooms will also be built on stilts. At the same time, the poles also ensure that the impact on the surrounding glacier environment is minimized as much as possible.

Don't skimp on luxury

Six Senses promises that the property will generate enough solar energy to not only power the hotel, but also generate enough energy for all other activities around the hotel, such as the boat shuttle that connects the hotel. Also will Black self-sufficient complete with its own waste and water management, recycling and renewable infrastructure. The restaurant and bar will also have a sustainable touch, we will work with local suppliers of sustainable products and even the water will be bottled and filtered by Six Senses itself.

The fact that the hotel is sustainable certainly does not mean that luxury is being cut back. The sustainable Scandinavian interior will feature a range of earthy and organic materials, as well as artwork that will celebrate local heritage. The rooms in the hotel are equipped with the latest technology and use the Svart Touch. This non-invasive contactless system will ensure that the room is fully adapted to the guest's state of mind and health.

In addition to the ultra-modern rooms, attention will also be paid to history, for example, regional and traditional medicine will be highlighted in the Alchemy Bar and guests can enjoy wonderful scents and scrubs made with local flora and fauna.
