BMW already presented its latest flagship at MASTERS EXPO; the fully electric i7. But at the brand, technical highlights follow each other in rapid succession. Last week the world was introduced to the futuristic i Vision Dee in Las Vegas. Fancy a different color on your car one morning? No problem, this model has 32…

The name 'Dee' stands for Digital Emotional Experience and that, according to BMW, is exactly the goal: to create an even stronger bond between people and their cars in the future. Digital functions in the future will go much further than the level of voice control and driver assistance systems that we know today, according to the brand.

And the i Vision Dee proves that. It starts outside the car, with a customizable welcome scenario of graphic elements and a combination of light and sound effects. The headlights and closed BMW grille form a so-called 'phygitale' - a fusion of physical and digital - image on a uniform surface, allowing the car to display different facial expressions. In this way, the BMW i Vision Dee can talk to people and at the same time visually express moods such as joy, surprise or approval. Very useful for the next time someone cuts you off in an antisocial manner... In addition, the technical tour de force can even project an avatar of the driver onto the side windows.

Infinite variety

Last year, BMW already showed a model with so-called e-ink, which allowed you to choose black, white and gray as the color for the exterior of your car. But now, for the first time in the world, the i Vision Dee has a color version of e-ink technology.

Because the body surface of the BMW is divided into 240 e-Ink segments, each of which is controlled individually, you can create an almost infinite variety of patterns within seconds.

Although the brand new concept car is not yet for sale, BMW underlines the importance of digitalization for the coming product generations with this model and says they are taking a new step towards the NEUE CLASS.
