Bond-themed summer retreat

Strolling barefoot on his private beach in Jamaica, Ian Fleming created one of the most enduring characters in global literature and film, James Bond. Good news for fans: You can stay this summer in the place where the spy novel was originally written. Sun, sea, beach and of course Martinis. "Shaken, Not Stirred."  

Between 1953 and 1964 Fleming wrote no less than twelve books about the British spy James Bond. He spent the summers in England, but in the winters he travelled to his home GoldEneye in Jamaica, where he wrote most of his Bond stories. After his death, the retreat was owned for a long time by other big names such as Bob Marley, Naomi Campbell and currently Chris Blackwell, owner of Island Records. 

The resort is now offering a special James Bond themed holiday package. The four-night experience includes a guided snorkeling excursion and a tour of his iconic villa where his desk and typewriter still reside. 

During your stay you will spend the night in the one-bedroom Lagoon Cottage. Here you have your own private veranda, your own bathroom and an outdoor shower in the garden. If you're not a martini drinker, the package also includes a bottle of Bollinger champagne. This was first mentioned in Fleming's 1956 novel Diamonds are Forever.
