From the Amsterdam canals to the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas: hospitality entrepreneur Won Yip is taking a striking next step. Not a new restaurant as you know it, but an experience that completely absorbs you. And yes, there is a price tag attached that is just as impressive, because this is set to become the most expensive restaurant in the world.

Won Yip is opening the 'super high-end restaurant' Sublimotion in Las Vegas this fall, in which he holds a 20 percent stake. The concept is entirely focused on exclusivity: a maximum of sixteen guests will be seated each evening for an all-inclusive experience of around $2.500 per person.

According to Yip, it is all about a total experience that goes beyond mere gastronomy. Guests are served a combination of haute cuisine, virtual reality, and entertainment in an evening-long program. Even the arrival is part of the whole: transfers to and from the hotel are provided by Aston Martin, entirely in keeping with the high-end character.

The kitchen is led by Spanish two-star chef Paco Roncero, the man behind the original Sublimotion concept in Ibiza. After previous international ventures, including pop-ups in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, the concept is now making the move to the United States.

Yip explained his plans during a meeting in Amsterdam and was outspoken about the choice of location. “This can only happen in Las Vegas. I have been coming here for thirty years; this is the capital of entertainment. This concept would not fit in any other American city,” said the entrepreneur.

That the price tag is not within everyone's reach seems to worry him little. When asked who is willing to pay 2.500 dollars for a dinner, he replied matter-of-factly: “Guests with money.”
