Sail on you crazy diamond
Feadship’s latest concept design is inspired by the way a cut diamond reflects and amplifies light. C, as the ship has been named (derived from the carbon symbol, which forms the basis for diamonds, while also playing on the words ‘see’ and ‘sea’), captivates with innovative technologies and captivating angles. But it goes beyond an unforgettable silhouette. Large expanses of glass allow light to penetrate deep into the yacht’s interior, transforming the central part of the yacht into a light-filled gallery and transparent living space. Traditional divisions between decks have also been blurred, thanks in part to an atrium with floating stars and a wallless elevator. A brilliant design! You have to see it to believe it. Another highlight is a movable crow’s nest that rises from an observation deck. Two infinity pools with hexagonal edges, finally, perfectly complement the shape of the seating areas and the atrium. As with all Feadship concept yachts, C is fully researched and feasible. The vessel obtains all its energy requirements from methanol-powered fuel cells, supplemented by lithium metal batteries. Normal cruising speed on the fuel cells is 14 knots, a maximum of 17 knots is achieved by adding the battery.
Sailing and houseboat
A D&Ø Houseboat, built by Davy & Ørsted and designed by Studio Piet Boon, is not just any houseboat: it is a floating villa without the limitations of a fixed mooring. Recycled materials, electric propulsion and self-sufficient water systems redefine sustainable off-grid living. While the functionality of a recreational boat is harmoniously united with the elegant beauty of a yacht. Soft lines and architectural finesse create a silhouette that exudes both strength and grace. The 65 square meter Comfort 65 and Elegance 65 both feature a spacious living room, luxury kitchen, bathroom, the option of one or two bedrooms (for 2 or 4 people), a spacious outdoor terrace and on the upper deck luxurious sun beds and a comfortable dining area (in the case of the Elegance a roof with peak). The showpiece is the Prestige 100 with a surface area of 100 square meters (good for 4 to 6 people). The deck features a living room, kitchen and the option of one or two bedrooms and bathrooms. The integration of indoor and outdoor spaces via sliding doors offers a living experience, with the interior flowing seamlessly into a beautiful outdoor terrace. The upper deck has an extra large bedroom with panoramic views, sauna and lounge area. With the joystick control system – which offers precise control when docking and manoeuvring in tight spaces – the houseboat navigates easily to its destination. Cast off!
Whisper Hunt
Zeelander’s latest flagship is 24 metres long, making it the largest yacht ever built by the Groot-Ammers-based boat builder in the province of Zeeland. It has the luxurious lines and whisper-quiet operation that Zeelander is known for. At full throttle, the noise level on board never exceeds the 65dBa threshold, making the Zeelander 8 the quietest vessel in its class. Impressive, considering the threshold for normal conversation is around 72dBa. Even at her exhilarating top speed of 40 knots, she will always be an oasis of calm. The increase in metres means more space, which is reflected on deck level in both a relaxation area and a large dining table with seating all around, and below deck in a spacious full-width owner’s cabin amidships plus two double cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. Special mention should be made of the aft deck, where guests can sink into deep leather seats around a high-gloss table. At the push of a button, the stern swings open to create a twelve-square-meter swimming platform, a private beach club floating above the water. Flexible as Zeelander Yachts is, the layout and styling can be adapted to individual preferences.
