You will not be alone in stopping to admire the beautiful things on display in our P.C. One designer brand after another lines the facades of the Netherlands' most expensive shopping street, and the exquisite items draw many people to pause before the beautifully dressed windows. While our wallets grow lighter with each designer purchase, those of fashion designers grow heavier. These five designers have the deepest pockets.

One designer brand after another flaunts itself on the facades of the most expensive shopping street in the Netherlands and the beautiful items make many people stop for a moment in front of the beautifully decorated shop window. While our wallets are becoming increasingly empty due to these designer items, those of fashion designers are becoming increasingly filled. These five fashion designers have the thickest wallets…

5. Demenico Dolce & Stefano Gabanna €1,9 billion

Demenico Dolce and Stefano Gabanna founded the fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana in 1985. At the time of its founding, the couple had a relationship, but this ended in 2004. On a business level, the collaboration continued and they both have a fortune of € 1,9 billion behind their names. The couple unanimously agrees about a possible successor to the brand: 'Once we're dead, we're dead. I don't want a Japanese designer to start designing Dolce & Gabbana.' The brand will therefore cease to exist when the gentlemen are no longer with us.

4. Tom Ford – €2 billion

Around 1990, Gucci was in dire financial straits and Tom Ford was appointed designer for the ready-to-wear collection for women, which he made a success. In 1994, Gucci was acquired and Ford became Creative Director of the brand. Under his leadership, the company grew from almost bankrupt to a value of 4,3 billion in 1999. He also worked as a designer at Yves Saint Laurent and breathed new life into the brand. In 2004, he left Gucci Group due to a dispute and started his own brand: Tom Ford. His successes today give him a fortune of €2 billion.

3. Miuccia Prada – €5 billion

Miuccia Prada started working as a designer in 1978 in the company that her grandfather Mario Prada had founded in 1913. In 1989 she released the first ready-to-wear collection for the fashion brand and her first men's collection followed in 1995. She also released her own brand Miu Miu. Together with her husband Patrizio Bertelli, she was CEO of the fashion brand. In 2022 it was announced that Miuccia Prada will step down from her duties as CEO and continue as Creative Director.

2. Ralph Lauren €6,4 billion

American fashion designer Ralph Lauren started his career as a tie seller and opened his first store in 1967. A men's collection followed in 1968 and a women's line in 1971. In addition to the well-known clothing where the polo player cannot be missed, Lauren also sells paint, furniture and interior items. There is also a restaurant under his name in New York and Chicago. All in all, this earns him around €6,4 billion.

1. Giorgio Armani – €10,2 billion

Due to his achievements with his fashion empire, Armani occupies the 157th place on the list of the world's rich. He has earned his estimated fortune of €10,2 billion mainly through his brands Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani.
