Amsterdam is serving up cultural highlights for everyone this anniversary year. From football stories to art and music: these five events show just how rich and diverse the city is. Grab your calendar – you won’t want to let this one pass you by quietly.

One club, one city: Ajax Amsterdam in the City Archives

Inseparably linked to the city for 125 years: Ajax. In the exhibition One club, one city, Ajax Amsterdam, the City Archives tells the story of the football club and of Amsterdam itself. With photos, archive documents, historical images and personal stories of icons such as Litmanen and Sjaak Swart, you will discover how Ajax and the city have grown together. A feast for fans and history buffs.

On view from April 25 to August 31 in the Amsterdam City Archives.

The healthiest festival of the year: Health Festival

Think ADE, but for body & mind. The Health Festival offers free workshops, lectures and live podcasts on mental and physical health at more than 250 locations in the city. The main location is Fosbury & Sons, but you can find the festival in all corners of Amsterdam.

The festival will take place from April 9 to 13 at more than 250 locations across the city.

Ode to 750 years of Amsterdam in the Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum's print room is entirely dedicated to 750 years of city history. Expect iconic maps, centuries-old drawings and prints that show how Amsterdam grew from a medieval port city to a modern metropolis. Special are the collage prints from the 17th century and the refined drawings by Gerard de Lairesse, which together paint a fascinating picture of the times.

The exhibition can be seen in the Rijksmuseum.

56 Spires by Cees Beuzekom 

Photographer Cees Beuzekom literally puts the towers of Amsterdam in the spotlight. His series 56 Spires artistically showcases the city’s characteristic spires – each unique in silhouette, and together the DNA of Amsterdam. 

The exhibition can be admired from April 11 to 13 in Atelier K84.

The Morning Service in Carré

According to them, a loving gift to Amsterdam. Every first Sunday of the month, the Carré theatre is transformed into an intimate concert hall for The Morning Service. In the hidden space In the Nock Daniel von Piekartz and Xander Vrienten take you on a musical experiment, together with a special guest artist. Personal songs, surprising covers and new forms come to life in a setting of only 250 visitors. 

The Morning Service takes place on the first Sunday of every month in Carré.
