ONE MAN'S TRASH, ANOTHER MAN'S TREASURE
Furthermore, the studio shows that copper slag (a by-product of copper extraction through smelting) is a more sustainable alternative to cement, the production of which 'accounts' for approximately 8 percent of global CO2 emissions on an annual basis. Cement based on this copper by-product has a 72 percent lower CO2 footprint.
