How you can help those affected by the earthquakes
The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have killed thousands of people, and survivors have lost much. Help is desperately needed. Beyond donating to Giro555, there are other ways to support the victims. MASTERS lists several of them.
The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have now killed thousands of people and survivors have lost a lot. So help is desperately needed. In addition to a donation to Giro555, there are also other ways to do something for the victims. MASTERS lists a number of them.
Donate money
Donating money to official aid organizations is actually the best thing you can do. These organizations know best what items are needed where and how the money will end up properly. You can easily here donate to Giro555 or a create an online collection box; invite your friends, colleagues and network to donate and raise money for this special Giro555 promotion.
In addition to the international organizations that provide medical assistance, shelter people or search under the rubble, there are also local organizations. For example, you have AFAD, this is the local authority in Turkey that coordinates disaster relief. In addition, you have ACUTE. This is an independent organization, separate from the government, that helps search and rescue earthquake victims. The organization has been in the affected disaster area from the beginning with 641 volunteers and search dogs. You can also donate to the organization Buddy. With more than 30.000 volunteers, this local network is currently also active in providing assistance in the affected region.
Cookbook
Singer and pianist Karsu releases her first cookbook. In Karsu's Kitchen, she shares more than 75 of her favorite dishes from the rich Turkish cuisine. From vegetarian to fish and meat, from tables full of mezze to simple quick meals. For all pre-order orders before March 7, 100% of the profits will go to earthquake victims in Hatay Province, Turkey. Thousands of copies have already been sold.
Fundraisers
In particular, a call is made to donate money to official aid organizations. There is a chance that collected items will hinder rather than help transport. So before you bring items somewhere, ask whether they are still necessary, where the items will be taken and whether there is coordination with local aid organizations. In Leiden, for example, there is a large collection campaign at the Mimar Sinan Mosque, in Rotterdam at the Mevlana Mosque, but also the Nike store in Bataviastad collects clothing and care items. People who have suitable items can drop them off at the store.
Benefit concert
Singer Meral Polat and Mystiek Productions, together with Meervaart, De Doelen and Podium Mozaïek, are organizing a series of three benefit concerts in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. An inspired musical program for Turkey and Syria; presented by Fidan Ekiz and Jan Douwe Kroeske. The artists who perform do this completely selflessly and the entire proceeds will be donated to Giro555. If you still have an opening in your agenda: a concert will be organized on February 14 in Meervaart Amsterdam and February 17 in Rotterdam. In addition, on Wednesday February 15, Goldband, DI-RECT, Kris Kross Amsterdam, Frenna, Bilal Wahib, Sigourney K, LAKSHMI, Iris Hond, Glen Faria and Jaïr, Raffie and Ammar Taher will take the stage during the True Art of Giving X Giro555 benefit in Cultuurdorp Westergas, Amsterdam.
