SEABIRD AMONG THE SUPERYACHTS
Respect for nature, enjoying the sea in silence, being outdoors, not causing polluting emissions: Seaffinity is a design for a yacht that wants to blend in with its environment. The lightness of a seabird was a source of inspiration. New technology such as the Oceanwings that provide wind drive, goes hand in hand with the use of natural light and natural ventilation. Thoughtfully placed windows in nature-inspired patterns minimize energy requirements through air conditioning or lighting. Electricity is generated by using the propellers as generators while sailing. The Oceanwings were developed for the sailing freighter Canopée, which is currently under construction in France. This ship will transport parts for the European Space Agency's Ariane rockets by sailing across the ocean to the launch site in French Guiana. Seaffinity is the first yacht with this form of wind propulsion. The operation is largely automated. The three hulls are covered by a single roof, so that the space on board forms a logical whole. Not the technique of sailing, not the construction of the trimaran, but the experience of the beauty of the ocean is the guideline for the design of the yacht. Decorations have been omitted: simplicity is the luxury of Seaffinity.
