The cabin of this special boat is more reminiscent of the cockpit of a Formula 1 car. This boat is therefore not made for people who want to float quietly in the water on a hot day with a cold glass of champagne in their hand. Meet the world's first fully electric, flying racing boat; the racebird. Text: Fleur de JongThe innovative Racebird from the company E1 combines a futuristic design with cooling and airfoil technology to pave the way for a new era of electric racing on the water.
In the boat behind the captain there is a battery that is cooled by using so-called energy-efficient immersion cooling. The sky rises through the two wings on the boat Racebird above the water to reduce drag and thus maximize energy efficiency. The driver will be protected by an enclosed cabin containing a steering wheel and pedals; a kind of cockpit. Not surprising when you consider that the Racebird can reach speeds of up to 93 kilometers per hour and E1 founder Alejandro Agag has a background in running a GP2 team.
Testing
You will probably stand out in the water with this boat, but you can also choose a different color on the outside instead of black. White, red, blue or green is also an option.
The racing boat previously made its public debut in Northern Italy, where top model Cara Delevingne stepped aboard. Now, according to a schedule of several weeks, the boat will be tested even more extensively.
