Quote 500: where record after record is broken

Quote 500 launched this week. The list features 500 of the country's wealthiest entrepreneurs and once again set new records.

This week the brand new Quote 500 was launched. This impressive list of entrepreneurs with 500 of the country's most wealthy residents once again broke record after record. Despite a number of stock market dramas, sky-high inflation, the shaky real estate market, the faltering economy and all the geopolitical tensions, the richest in our country have become richer again, as the 27th edition of the Quote 500 shows.

In total, these 500 wealthy Dutch people are worth around € 241 billion, which means they have skyrocketed by 4,7% compared to last year. The record for the biggest climber on the list is held by Stijn Vos, who, as CEO and shareholder, is already benefiting from the proposed IPO of Esdec, which develops mounting systems for solar panels. Unfortunately, there is always a time to come and a time to go. Also in the Quote 500. In this edition, 24 entrepreneurs are said goodbye, including VanMoof's brothers Taco and Ties Carlier and Wibra founder Ron Wierdsma had to leave the list.

Record height last year

The number of billionaires in the Netherlands has also increased considerably. When one goes down the list, it is only in 52nd place that he finds someone who has been assigned the word million after his name. The lower limit to qualify for a spot in the Quote 500 this year was a (paper) capital of € 125 million, which means the gate is closed at € 5 million more than last year. Nevertheless, the list welcomes 29 new members and old acquaintances.

Self made 

The vast majority of the list can claim success in its own name. 258 members owe their wealth to a company that they managed to build themselves and 168 people took over the baton. Only 74 people belong to the silver spoon category. The Quote 500 is therefore a real list of entrepreneurs that the Netherlands can be proud of.
