Once again ABN AMRO MeesPierson and Choices by DL joined forces for the Entrepreneurial Woman election. The nominees gathered in the Ketelhuis of GASSAN, because who should wear the prestigious title this year... MASTERS TV was at the festive occasion and talked to the winners.
After the first edition last year, a number of great collaborations have already been achieved between various enterprising women. Naz Kawan and Barbara Barend together set up a sustainable t-shirt line that provides girls' teams with away shirts. Princess Laurentien of Orange and Claudia Straatmans also joined forces. Together they are committed to 'the golden generation' and emphasize the value of women over fifty. We hope that valuable collaborations will emerge again this year and that we can expand the enterprising women's network.
The winners of Entrepreneurial Woman 2023 at a glance:
Winner of the Philanthropy category: Esther Vergveer
Esther is the founder of the Esther Vergeer Foundation. The foundation has been active since 2004 and introduces children and young people with physical disabilities to sport and its positive effects. Very important, because research shows that young people with disabilities exercise less and the lack of facilities is a cause of this. As a figurehead, Esther is closely involved in the foundation's activities. She will donate the prize money to the Esther Vergeer Foundation.
Sustainability category winner: Ananda van Doorn
Nowadays we see more and more fast-fashion and fast-furniture companies that quickly bring new collections to the market that are made from cheap materials, sometimes even obtained through (illegal) deforestation. A trend that is worrying for our planet. Reliving is a marketplace for second-hand design and vintage furniture. Reliving believes in high-quality furniture with a long lifespan that remains in circulation for as long as possible. Reliving offers second-hand furniture that has been selected for quality. In this way they try to ensure that fast-furniture disappears and furniture gets a new life. She will donate the prize money to the Urgenda Foundation.
Winner of the Media Personality category: Fidan Ekiz
Fidan Ekiz, a versatile documentary maker, presenter of Op1 and WNL in the Kantine and columnist for Vrouw Magazine, is driven by her passion to enrich the public debate, inform and give voice to vulnerable groups. Her career choice stems from her love for exploring social themes, telling inspiring stories, her curiosity and her desire to contribute to important debates. She will donate the prize money to the Jarige Job Foundation.
