Taking off everywhere

Previously, the Speeder was designed as a flying vehicle for the military and government. But Jetpack Aviation now comes with a version for recreational use and personal transport. The world's first flying motorcycle promises to offer the same experience as riding a motorbike, but in the air.

This latest innovation developed by the California-based company can effectively take off anywhere, from a spot the size of a small car. It took some time to build a flying engine that is as stable, safe and easy to fly as a drone, but flies faster and further with more weight, Jetpack Aviation spent more than 1,5 years building its own flight control system .

An advantage is that operating the engine does not even require pilot training. Jetpack Aviation claims that the Speeder is easier to fly than any other aircraft in its class. Before driving, training will first have to be given. The Speeder can reach flight speeds of up to 96 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 4500 meters.

Although the original design featured four turbines, the final product will have eight, two on each corner of the engine to provide additional safety. The extra turbines allow the Speeder to carry up to 270 kilos.

A modified Speeder 2.0 version is expected to begin testing in 2022. Fortunately, there is also a green edge to this innovation, as Jetpack Aviation has signed a deal with Prometheus Fuels to use their carbon-free fuel.
