Since 1972
'The intention to only make beautiful and high-quality products that allow everyone to reach their destination in the most pleasant way possible'. That's what the three syllables of Me-ri-da stand for. Since 1972, Merida has been carrying out its mission with the intention of only producing high-quality and beautiful bicycles. Merida makes sporty bicycles for every type of cyclist: from commuter to Downhill mountain biker and from professional cyclist to recreational city cyclist.
Stylish
Founder and pioneer Ike Tseng changed the face of the bicycle industry and established Taiwan as the world leader in bicycle technology. Merida Benelux continues to promote the mission behind the Merida product name, delivering 1,5 million top-quality Merida bicycles every year. For this reason, Merida even gives a lifetime warranty on the frames of the bicycles. Whether you use a sporty electric bicycle, the lightest racing bike, a mountain bike or hybrid model: you always arrive on location in style.
New generation of bicycles
Merida's research & design institute is now located in Magdeburg, near Stuttgart, Germany, where a team of specialists from different fields work together to develop the new generation of bicycles. This includes seasoned enduro mountain bike racers and ex-professional cyclists, but also avid off-road adventurers and loyal commuters. The development of the racing bikes, the Merida Reacto and Scultura, naturally involves close collaboration with the riders and staff members of the UCI World Team Bahrain Victorious. This professional cycling team offers Merida the opportunity to constantly develop and innovate in the field of materials; For example, tests are carried out every year in a wind tunnel to optimize the aerodynamics of the Merida bicycles, and sprinters and climbers provide feedback on the driving characteristics and comfort of the bicycles.
Victory
The result is impressive: the Merida Reacto won the Design & Innovation Award 2021 and set a new standard among 'aero bikes' in terms of weight and comfort. The first professional victory in 2021 on a Merida has now become a fact: Phil Bauhaus sprinted to victory on his Merida Reacto in the final stage of the Tour of Provence. In the same multi-day race, Wout Poels piloted his Merida Scultura to fourth place in the general classification.
