Bisate Lodge, Ruhengeri, Rwanda

Ralph: “This ecolodge consisting of six villas is located adjacent to Volcanoes National Park. You have a beautiful view of the peak of two volcanoes, but even more exciting is that the park is the habitat of the gorillas. You can easily drive there from the lodge and participate in one gorilla tracking. "

Iniala Beach House, Khok Kloi, Thailand

Lonneke: “At the time of the tsunami it was an old Thai house. The resident fled onto the roof from the water and was rescued there. He decided to convert that place into a super-deluxe hotel and invited all kinds of designers to come up with rooms. We contributed to this in the initial phase. It has become a unique hotel with six rooms, each designed with its own vision, spread over two villas.”

Azulik, Tulum, Mexico

Ralph: “This resort consists of 48 wooden houses, wedged between jungle and sea. It's all about nature: there is no television, no shower, no electric light. At night everything is lit with candles – you're constantly hitting your head, haha. The resort is even built around nature, no trees were cut down to create it. Everything is round, there are no right angles. And you eat on a kind of nest that rises above the trees, so that you have a perfect view of the Caribbean sunset.”

The Abu Dhabi EDITION, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Ralph: “This hotel opened last year. Amazing architecture, beautifully situated on the water. And not unimportant: with a great gym and spa.”

Faena, Miami Beach, USA

Ralph: “Beautiful luxury hotel, very extravagant, very theatrical. With a Damien Hirst in the garden: the gilded skeleton of a mammoth in a glass coffin, Gone but not forgotten.” Lonneke: “The Australian film director Baz Luhrmann, known for, among others Moulin Rouge, and his wife co-signed the design. Maybe that is why there is a theater at the hotel.” Ralph: “Faena gave us permission to take off the drones on the beach in front of the hotel. Did we spend the night there? No, we slept in an Airbnb.”
