Amelia Earhart
The Longines Spirit pays tribute to the pioneers who made history through a record, an act of heroism or a show of courage. They relied on Longines on their incredible journeys. Be inspired by their fascinating and surprising stories, including the story of pilot Amelia Earhart. In 1928, she was the first female co-pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. In 1932 she made a non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 14 hours and 56 minutes. Despite the icy winds and mechanical failures, she was the first woman to connect the continents, wearing a Longines chronograph on her wrist.
The new Longines Spirit collection is designed in the same way as the Longines timepieces of these famous pioneers. The oversized crown, the shape of the case, the numbering on the dial, the diamond-shaped index and the large, luminous hands are all elements from this era of aviation. Slightly modified and updated, these features blend harmoniously with the overall contemporary design.
Paul-Emile Victor
The explorer and pilot Paul-Emile Victor also relied on Longines during his polar expeditions. In 1936 he crossed the Greenland ice cap in 7 weeks with temperatures down to -40 degrees. Even under the harshest weather conditions, his Longines chronometers continued to work accurately, helping him calculate longitude. “These watches made the difference between failure and success,” Victor later explained.
All models from the Longines Spirit collection come with the latest technology and highly accurate movements, all of which are Chronometer certified. The watches are equipped exclusively with mechanical movements (L888.4 and L688.4) with a silicon balance spring to ensure extreme accuracy and a longer lifespan. Additionally, these watches come with a 5-year warranty. The calibers, with a power reserve of 64 and 60 hours respectively, are Chronometer certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
The Longines Spirit is available in a model with 3 hands and date display (Ø 40 mm and 42 mm) and a chronograph (Ø 42 mm) with a matte black, silver or sunray blue dial. The dial is stamped with five stars, which, according to Longines tradition, indicate the quality and reliability of the timepiece. Five stars is the highest possible. The models have a steel strap or a leather strap in light brown, dark brown or blue.
Prestige Edition
In addition, the Longines Spirit is also available in a “Prestige Edition” with an interchangeable strap in steel, leather and nato, which is delivered in a beautiful Heritage watch box.
