Awe for the past

Launches this spring Creative Lab Amsterdam the new wallpaper. Past and contemporary design come together through this wallpaper, so that old works are once again given a place in the spotlight. To create the new collection, several elements from works dating from 1300 to 1800 were combined. The works of Aert Schouman, Robert Jacob Gordon and Henriëtte Geertruida Knip, among others, can be found in the wallpaper. 

Art director and co-founder Heleen van Nierop In his own words, with awe for the past, fragments from the Rijksmuseum collection have been merged into a modern wallpaper collection. Every fine detail, from butterfly to flower wreath, became the starting point for the designs. The art director indicates that the different designs are not only beautiful on the wall, but they continue to inspire by the beauty of the details. There is always something new to see in the design.

Unique story

A nice bonus is that all the exotic animals and lush flowers in the playful designs have a unique story. The story about the origin of the historical elements is therefore mentioned on the website with each wallpaper. For example, the ostrich was drawn by Robert Jacob Gordon (1743-1795). Robert was an explorer, scientist and diplomat. The legacy of this explorer provides an extremely detailed picture of South Africa during the last decades of the VOC regime. In addition to this special wallpaper, the entire Creative Lab collection also contains greeting cards and notebooks.
