In conversation with Annemieke Cohrs, founder Eivissa Properties Ibiza

A background in the hotel industry, combined with her love for interior design, led Annemieke Cohrs to found Eivissa Properties. With a team of experienced agents, she helps people find and sell a home in Ibiza. MASTERS talked to the founder, who, in his own words, is a passionate perfectionist who will settle for nothing less than the very best.

Founder Annemieke Cohrs is a woman with many talents and passions. Started at the hotel school in Maastricht and ended up in the corporate world as a personal assistant and event manager. However, love brought her into the interior design world and therefore to Ibiza. As a little girl she always wanted her own boutique bed & breakfast. She hopes to welcome her first guests there in five years. But first the focus is on Eivissa Properties. With a vision to bring all her passions together in one place, Annemieke embarked on a journey to make her dream come true. 

What led you to found Eivissa Properties?

''I wanted to make a difference in the world of real estate agents in Ibiza. We received many questions from clients in the rental business to help them in their search for their own home in Ibiza. This is a challenging process for many. After a number of successful mediations, we started looking at what could be done differently and how we could make a difference. This is how Eivissa Properties was created, where we focus on guiding purchases and sales.” 

Why Ibiza? 

''Actually this happened by chance. I never thought I would start a business here. I actually mainly knew Ibiza as party island, that didn't really appeal to me. Clients who asked me to furnish their house in Ibiza made me go there anyway. I discovered how nice the island is and how much peace it gives me. I am an intuitive person and I knew from everything that this was right and would be the right step for me. In my opinion, that is entrepreneurship, daring to go for it. I quit everything in the Netherlands and moved to Ibiza. A year later I was given the opportunity to take over a very nice rental company, the rest is history…''

“For us, helping the client is our priority, not selling”

Where does your passion for the real estate sector come from? 

''I have a great love for construction, architecture and interior design. I have also sometimes asked myself why I didn't study architecture. The real estate sector came my way. What mainly attracts me is helping clients find their dream home. It is a beautiful process and it is very satisfying when you walk into a house and immediately feel that it is exactly what you are looking for for a particular client. Often we don't even look and the right house comes our way when we happen to be talking to someone and it turns out that they are thinking about selling their own house or it turns out that the neighbor's house is for sale."

What makes Eivissa Properties different from other companies? 

''Instead of as soon as possible close of a deal, we stand for personal attention and transparency, where we try to make the process as efficient and pleasant as possible for the client. For us, helping the client is our priority, not selling. I recently spoke to a client who indicated that he finds our personal service unique. I also flew to the Netherlands especially for him. For me it is very important to first meet clients in person. I then have a much better idea of ​​what kind of house would suit them. Furthermore, at Eivissa Properties we don't do it alone, we work together with many real estate agents on the island."

What characteristics characterize you as an entrepreneur?

''I think above all honesty. For example, I will always honestly tell clients whether a house is suitable for them. Even if this means that the sale will not go through for me. Reliability is also a major core value for and of me. I also dare to take risks and have a good dose of perseverance. The risks I take give me strength to persevere and make Eivissa Properties great in Ibiza, but also beyond. As an entrepreneur and human being, I also want to be able to make a difference for people, helping and providing good service is my priority. In addition, I am empathetic – I see the person instead of the deal…”
