House prices rose the most in these countries
Buying a home in the Netherlands now requires considerable spending, and housing costs have risen sharply across five countries since 2010.
In the Netherlands, you still have to pay quite a bit of money to obtain the title of homeowner and a home in 2023 will cost you an average of 410.200 euros. Quite a difference compared to 2010. These five countries have been rising champions in house prices since 2010.
The online pushlisher Visual capitalist examines topics such as global economics, technology, energy and markets. The company recently dug into global house price growth and ranked growth (and decline) per country in 2022 (Q2) compared to 2010.
Visual Capitalist collected data from 57 countries from the International Bank of Settlements database. Advanced economies and the world's most developed countries emerged as the biggest gainers. On average, house prices worldwide have skyrocketed by almost 2010% since 30. At the top of the ladder is Iceland with a doubling of 103%, followed by Estonia (97%), New Zealand (97%), Chile (95%) and Turkey (91%).
House prices also rose in many other emerging market economies. In India and Malaysia, house prices have increased by 59%. In the Philippines (50%) and Colombia (40%), prices also rose faster than the average.
Not all countries are seeing prices skyrocket compared to the average and are slowing down a bit. Countries in Europe such as France, Belgium and Croatia and in Asia such as China and Singapore show an increase of less than 20%.

Biggest decliners
Of the 57 countries surveyed, twelve countries are falling in terms of house prices. The highest decline can be seen in Russia, where house prices have fallen by as much as 2010% since 33. Houses also appear to be selling for less money in Greece (-26%) and Italy (-24%).
The Netherlands
And what about us? Although the Netherlands is currently showing a cautious decline, price tags similar to those of 2010 are still a long way off. Our country claims the 30th place with an average increase of 30%.
