GROHE takes the next step for a better world

We are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious, and the world is recycling more than ever. GROHE is familiar with this trend and has been recycling for some time.

We are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious and the world is recycling nicely. GROHE is not unfamiliar with this phenomenon and has been recycling for a circular economy for years, with rates of 99% on waste recycling and up to 80% on copper recycling. But GROHE goes one step further. The sanitary specialist is now launching its first 'Cradle to Cradle' certified products, taking the production process one step further than 'normal' recycling. Image: GROHECradle-to-cradle (C2C) is a relatively new way of producing products, where product waste is used to make new products. If you think: 'Isn't this just called recycling?'. No! During recycling, the various materials are reused, but residual waste is still created during this process. You can also only recycle a material a limited number of times before its quality is lost. Ultimately, new raw materials must be used, because products are lost forever. Bee Cradle to Cradle Products are 100% reused, because products are designed and produced in a certain way that they can be used indefinitely.

By launching the four best-selling products as Cradle to Cradle Certified® GROHE as a company contributes to a circular economy. All four products achieved certification without any problems and were even immediately awarded 'Gold status'. After switching to CO2-neutral production in April 2020 and replacing all plastic parts in product packaging with environmentally friendly alternatives in 2021, GROHE is once again strengthening its commitment to sustainable development.

New standard within the sanitary sector

Next challenge for GROHE

GROHE has taken a decisive step in the journey towards a circular future with its first Cradle to Cradle Certified® realize products. But the journey continues. Bathroom products generally have a long life cycle, which means that in addition to achieving certifications for even more products, GROHE is already taking on the next challenge: future processes for returning C2C taps that would otherwise be thrown away.
