The 25th Travel Gala at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin was one to remember: champagne, applause and awards for the biggest names in the travel world. In the category 'Best Luxury Cruises' Explora Journeys crossed the finish line first. With their elegant ships and impeccable service they managed to navigate the professional jury to one conclusion—this is the ultimate way to brave the seven seas. 

The Vakantie Awards, also known as the 'Oscars of the Dutch travel industry', are awarded based on votes from professionals in the travel industry. This makes the awards extra valuable: it is a recognition of the highest quality, awarded by experts in the field. This year, awards were presented in no fewer than 37 categories.

Explora Journeys proves that cruising in 2025 is no longer about massive buffets and crowded decks. With superyacht-inspired ships EXPLORA I en EXPLORA II combines elegance and comfort without compromising on exclusivity. Think spacious suites and penthouses with panoramic sea views, refined restaurants and lounges where time seems to stand still. Add to that a swimming pool where you can drink a cocktail in style, and it is no surprise that the shipping company won awards.

The fact that the company has received this prestigious award after only 1.5 years underlines that their innovative concept is hitting the right note. What sets Explora Journeys apart from other luxury cruise lines? According to industry insiders, it's all about space, choice and personal service. "Our concept exudes European elegance. Our ships are comparable to a boutique hotel at sea. Space, choice, personal service and fantastic gastronomy are our key points. And that's on an all-inclusive basis, so champagne, fine wines, whiskies and cocktails are also included."

A surprise often heard among guests? The unprecedented space on board. “From the spacious suites to the enormous space outside on the decks. Being outside is important on our ships. The connection between inside and outside is made everywhere. All suites have their own terrace, there are more than enough sunbeds and cabanas at the three heated outdoor pools (with bar service of course), and at four of the six restaurants you can also dine outside.”

But according to Suzanne, there are also hidden gems among the well-known hotspots. “I still recommend The Baths on Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. In Europe, there are numerous lesser-known ports. Especially in Greece, there are regularly nice gems, but also in Sardinia, for example, there are several beautiful places to discover during a trip with Explora Journeys.”
