MASTERS boards the EXPLORA I

Explora Journeys recently cast off the EXPLORA I. From Copenhagen, the ship began its maiden voyage with Iceland as the final destination. Over seven days, guests sailed through the majestic landscapes of Lerwick, Shetland Islands and Kirkwall, Orkney. MASTERS joined the voyage and boarded the brand new ship.

Explora Journeys recently cast off its EXPLORA I. From Copenhagen the ship started its 'maiden journey' with Iceland as its final destination. For seven days, guests were taken on board through the majestic landscapes of Lerwick, Shetland Islands and Kirkwall, Orkney. MASTERS took the plunge and also boarded the brand new ship.

The first ship in the Explora Journeys fleet, EXPLORA I seamlessly blends elegant Swiss precision with modern European craftsmanship. The ship has been carefully designed in collaboration with the world’s leading superyacht and hospitality designers to ensure that the senses are stimulated and an ‘Ocean State of Mind’ is encouraged. The 461 suites, penthouses and residences – with stunning sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows and private sun terraces – offer guests a comfortable home at sea, with unparalleled space and privacy. MASTERS was able to experience it with their own eyes. 

Starting signal

After the delivery of EXPLORA I in Italy on July 20, the ship made her first sailing from Copenhagen on August 1. It is the starting signal for a number of future journeys that will span a total of three continents. The luxurious ship will stay in Northern Europe for a few more weeks before crossing the Atlantic Ocean and spending the winter in North America and the Caribbean Sea. The EXPLORA I will return to Europe in the summer of 2024.

Of course, the new ship was not allowed to leave Copenhagen harbor unnoticed; various festivities were organized. So did the traditional one crest exchange place, a maritime tradition honoring the sailing of a ship to its first destination. EXPLORA II is currently being built in Italy and will enter service in August 2024.
