MASTERS steps aboard the EXPLORA I

Explora Journeys recently cast off the mooring lines of her EXPLORA I. Departing from Copenhagen, the ship embarked on her "maiden voyage" with a final destination of Iceland. For seven days, guests on board were taken through the majestic landscapes of Lerwick, Shetland Islands and Kirkwall, Orkney. MASTERS set sail and also boarded the brand-new ship.

The first ship in Explora Journeys' fleet, the EXPLORA I seamlessly blends elegant Swiss precision with modern European craftsmanship. The ship has been carefully designed in collaboration with the world's leading superyacht and hospitality designers to ensure that the senses are stimulated and encourage an "Ocean State of Mind. The 461 suites, penthouses and residences - with stunning sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows and private sun decks - offer guests a comfortable home at sea, with unparalleled space and privacy. MASTERS was allowed to experience it firsthand.

Launch

Following the delivery of EXPLORA I in Italy on July 20, the ship thus made her first sailing from Copenhagen on August 1. It marks the start of several future voyages that will span a total of three continents. For example, the luxury ship will spend several more weeks in northern Europe before crossing the Atlantic and spending the winter in North America and the Caribbean. In the summer of 2024, the EXPLORA I will return to Europe.

According to the CEO of Explora Journeys, Michael Ungerer, the first sailing of the EXPLORA I marks the beginning of a new era: "It is an absolute honor to welcome the very first guests aboard our ship and share this special moment with them as we board for the EXPLORA I's maiden voyage from Copenhagen. Here, our guests will experience the very best hospitality and a sense of cosmopolitan luxury at sea while discovering some of the world's most remarkable destinations. A new era of transformative luxury ocean travel begins now with the first sailing of EXPLORA I."

"It is an absolute honor to welcome the very first guests aboard our ship."

Of course, the new ship was not allowed to leave Copenhagen harbor unnoticed; various festivities were organized. These included the traditional crest exchange took place, a maritime tradition celebrating the sailing of a ship to her first destination. EXPLORA II is currently under construction in Italy and will enter service in August 2024.
