Since its founding in 1998, the company has never shied away from a challenge and continues to look for new opportunities and hidden gems. CEO Harco van Uden: “The modern explorer is constantly looking for new, groundbreaking adventures. If something is picked up by the 'general public', it is actually already outdated.” In this respect, ExperienceTravel has a special scoop, because it will be one of the first travel organizations to open the gates to the currently blank slate of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is on the eve of a historic transformation and is investing heavily in this. Black gold (oil) will eventually be replaced by tourism. The fact that the Saudis are serious is evident from the target of receiving approximately 2030 million tourists per year by 25. The policy makers realize that this will also have to be based on a cultural change, because the current character of Saudi Arabia is mainly closed and not or hardly inviting to foreign tourists. Religion has traditionally played an important role in Saudi Arabia and will continue to do so, but the 'impact' of this will be minimal for tourists. Harco van Uden did his own research and recently visited Saudi Arabia with his wife. “For Westerners, the country is mainly shrouded in mystery,” says van Uden. “However, if you look at it with your own eyes, a completely different picture immediately emerges. My wife, for example, did not have to wear a veil. Alcohol is currently still prohibited, but there is a chance that this will also be changed in the future, at least for tourists." The fact that world-renowned hotel chains are establishing themselves en masse in Saudi Arabia reveals that behind the scenes the transition has been going on for some time. The timing of a Formula 1 race in Saudi Arabia (December 5 for the first time) is also not a coincidence and is part of the larger plan to put the country in the spotlight. ExperienceTravel has exclusive Paddock tickets for the Formula 1 races (December and March) in Jeddah. This way you can enjoy the Saudi Arabia GP at a high level and at the same time get to know the many different faces of the country. There is a lot to discover. From unspoilt nature reserves to hidden desert treasures and from modern cities to paradisiacal beaches.
In the near future, Saudi Arabia will mainly be regarded as a genuine pioneering destination, but in the longer term it will become a mainstream travel destination that culture lovers, adventurous travelers and holidaymakers alike will never stop talking about.
