Me Myself and I

"In the painting Me Myself and I dried banana leaves are processed. These give the work an interesting and whimsical look lines. When I start a painting, I often don't have a clear goal. Not so with this painting. With a photo of my daughter as the only guideline, my exciting quest begins: painting. I am guided by matter, colour, movement and my emotion. I never know where I'll end up. While painting I scratch, wipe and splash by intuition. Gradually one emerges portrait. In my creative process I first use brushes and spatulas, later only my hands are the most important tools. The title of the work arises spontaneously during it Paint. This lady seems quite arrogant, which I really like about her work. Hence the appropriate title.”

“This atmospheric work from the series Gold is painted with oil paint and cold wax. Capturing movement and emotion 'as fascinatingly as possible' fascinates me enormously. Also a good one composition is important in my work. I study these by making sketches in advance. For mine color choices I get a lot of inspiration from nature. During walks with my dog ​​I pick some beautiful branches here and there flowers and I put this in my workshop. During the Paint I look at it regularly.”

More than words

“The romantic portrait More than words is difficult to describe in words. Both the look in her eyes and the colors convey a warm feeling. Exactly the feeling I had in mind during my... painting process. It is also interesting to see what a small amount of gold leaf does in this work. There was a pot there for a long time cold wax in my studio, but each time I didn't have time to experiment with it. Up to now. After creating a series of works with this medium, I am very enthusiastic. Wax is mixed with oil paint and has a buttery consistency that you can scratch and wipe endlessly. Adding beeswax to paint is not new and was already used by the old masters. Including by William Turner. He is my role model because of his loose touch and use of color.”
