Energy-positive hotel in the Northern Hemisphere
Svart, in the far north of Norway, will become the first energy-positive hotel in the Northern Hemisphere. The developers of architectural firm Snøhetta promise that it not only uses 85 percent less energy annually than the average hotel, but that it also generates its own energy – for the construction of the hotel, daily operation and transfer by boat. Hotel of the future
The roof is covered with solar panels, and electricity is also produced with hydropower. It will be an eco-friendly destination that does not detract from its unique location: at the foot of the Svartisen Glacier, among rare flora and fauna. The design will be equally unique: with its round shape, the hotel offers its guests a 360-degree view of the Holandsfjord. Svart, which means 'black' and refers to the dark color of the glacier, will open in autumn 2023.
