Closer than ever: first electric Ferrari

Less than six months ago, former CEO Louis Camilleri said Ferrari would never go fully electric, but that now appears to be changing. During Ferrari's annual shareholder meeting, CEO John Elkann announced that the first fully electric Ferrari will come onto the market in 2025.

Demand for electric is increasing

Although the company's first hybrid, the SF90 Stradale, proved to be a hit when it was introduced in 2019, the former CEO never seemed convinced about electrification. That same year, the CEO said an electric car wouldn't arrive until the latter part of this decade at the earliest. According to Camilleri customers had difficulty with the idea of ​​a complete electric sports car, he could not imagine the brand ever becoming fully electric or even 50 percent electrically powered. 

During the shareholders' meeting, Ferrari also announced that the corona crisis clearly had an influence on the sales of their models. For example, 2020 percent fewer cars were sold in 10 than the record year of 2019. The brand seems to be cleverly responding to the increasing demand for electric cars with an electric variant. Search for new CEO

For the time being, Ferrari will not give up its powerful combustion engines. But it is a fact that the electric one will arrive in 2025. As for the near future: CEO Elkann hinted that three new Ferraris will make their debut in the coming months. 

The development of electric cars and new models is not the only thing Ferrari is focusing on. The company is also redoubling its efforts to find a new CEO.
