Staying at Kazerne is coming home in the calm of the city. You sleep peacefully here, with the vibrant city just around the corner. The large inner courtyard is particularly refreshing. A lovely spot for a beer or a cup of coffee (tip: have a slice of carrot cake with it, it's delicious). There are various rooms and suites. The Paljas Loft stands out for its rain shower that would not be out of place in a sauna, but the real highlight is the 140 m2 Penthouse Loft, equipped with a special roof construction, complete with original wooden beams bearing inscriptions from 1855. There is also a welded steel Protopunk chess table by Joost van Bleiswijk and even a telescope for stargazing at night.

At the DAF Museum you travel through the history of a quintessentially Dutch industrial icon, from the modest smithy where Hub and Wim van Doorne started in 1928 to the most modern trucks rolling off the line today. The collection is impressively broad: beautifully restored trucks, buses, cars, trailers and rare prototypes not only show the development of the brand, but also the pioneering spirit and technical ingenuity that made DAF great. Particularly striking is the attention to the famous Variomatic, the revolutionary continuously variable transmission that made DAF's cars so distinctive. Thanks to the efforts of over 170 enthusiastic volunteers, a visit here feels neither distant nor purely technical, but accessible and infused with pride in Eindhoven craftsmanship.

In Gerard Philips' very first light bulb factory from 1891, the story unfolds of a small manufacturer who grew into a global player, with innovations that left their mark on everything from lighting and radio to X-ray technology, television and healthcare. Strijp-S perhaps shows most clearly why Eindhoven is such an intriguing city. What was once a closed-off Philips site, the former 'forbidden city' accessible only to employees, has now grown into the creative heart of the city, where industrial heritage has been given a second life without losing its raw character. Impressive former Philips factories such as Ketelhuis and Klokgebouw now house shops, restaurants, makers, film, design and events, a vibrant mix of culture, hospitality and creativity. During events such as Dutch Design Week and STRP, that energy perhaps comes to the fore most sharply, but even on an ordinary day you feel here how good Eindhoven is at reinventing itself. Strijp-S is not a backdrop of former industry, but a district that shows how past, courage and innovation can strengthen each other.

LAB-1 is a distinctive cultural venue where film, club, bar and events blend seamlessly together. You will find not only arthouse, special screenings and expat cinema here, but also comedy, pub quizzes, live music and dance nights. You can play pinball, browse film posters ('Your wall deserves better') or settle into one of the armchairs with a bucket of popcorn. This makes LAB-1 feel more like a creative living room for the city than a place where you simply sit in the dark watching a screen. This layered character is what makes it so compelling. LAB-1 moves with the city and its audience, without losing its distinctive personality.
