Dutch Design Week returns

Dutch Design Week (DDW) returns this year from October 22 to 30. The well-known design week is all about, as the name suggests, design, innovation and creative concepts from more than 2600 designers. Where the design of the future and the future of design are central. DDW takes place in Eindhoven and consists of various seminars, conferences, workshops, exhibitions and exhibits.Text: Mical Joseph

When it all started...

Dutch Design Week was founded in 1998, under the name Day of Design, with the aim of bringing entrepreneurs and designers into contact with each other. Due to the success of the event, Design Day became Design Week in 2002. In 2005 the name changed to what we know it as today: Dutch Design Week. While DDW started in 2002 with twenty participants, in 2016 there were more than 400 events spread over 100 locations, in which 2.500 designers participated. In 2018, the event attracted around 355.000 visitors from home and abroad.

Innovation

DDW distinguishes itself from other design events by focusing on designs for the future. Although all conceivable disciplines and aspects of design are discussed during the event, the emphasis is on experiment, innovation and crossovers.
